Kenrokuen
Kenrokuen, along with Kourakuen in Okayama and Kairakuen in Mito, is counted as one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan. In 1676, Maeda Tsunanori, the 5th lord of the Kaga Domain, constructed a villa and converted the surrounding area into a garden. This was the beginning of Kenrokuen, and after Maeda Tsunanori's massive investment, the garden has been maintained for over 180 years. The majestic garden has all six characteristics (referred to as the 'Six Elements') that a great garden should have: spaciousness, seclusion, artificiality, antiquity, abundant water, and broad views. It is difficult to walk around to see every corner of a garden as vast as Kenrokuen, but seeing each of the Six Elements represented at Kenrokuen is easy. Kenrokuen can be enjoyed in all four seasons, with cherry blossoms in the spring, rhododendrons and moss in the summer, red and yellow foliage in the fall, and yukitsuri (rope supports to protect tree branches from snow) in the winter. It is truly a Japanese garden you will want to visit each and every season of the year.

Sazaeyama in Kenrokuen
Sazaeyama is a hill made from the soil excavated to create Kasumiga-ike Pond. Sazaeyama's name comes from the spiral road leading to its summit, which resembles a turban shell (sazae in Japanese). From the summit, you can see all of Kenrokuen at once, with Kasumiga-ike Pond centering the landscape. Many tourists do not make it all the way to the summit, so if you make it to the summit, you can take your time to enjoy the view relatively free of crowds.

Gold Leaf Experience at Hakuichi
Kanazawa produces more than 99% of Japan's gold leaf. At Hakukokan you can view the glittering gold replicas of Toshiie Maeda, first lord of the Kaga Domain, and you can watch craftsmen as they actually hammer out the gold leaf. Once you have finished viewing the museum, you can try your hand at applying gold leaf. With Authentrip, you can choose any item you like from the gold leaf experience menu, and have a go at applying the gold leaf. Make your own original item using gold leaf!

Kanazawa Higashi Chaya District (Kanazawa Higashiro - Shima)
Tea houses don't usually admit newcomers, but here in Kanazawa it is possible to casually view a tea house. Kanazawa Higashiro - Shima was built in 1820 and is the only tea house in the country to be designated as an Important National Treasure. During the Edo Period it was very luxurious and prestigious, and only the most fashionable and cultured townspeople were admitted. On display are shamisen, drums, ornamental hairpins and hair ornaments that were actually used at the time. After viewing the interior, from the Shima tearoom 'Kansonan' please enjoy a quiet moment with tea and Japanese sweets overlooking a garden that changes according to the four seasons.

Kanazawa Higashiro - Shima was built in 1820(Edo Period) and is the only tea house in the country to be designated as an Important National Treasure. As the teahouse culture is one that is unique to Japan, it is often difficult to explain to foreigners, but even so, visiting the hall can be quite an enjoyable and satisfying experience.
